Woodbridge Badminton Club was previously known as Adastral Park Badminton Club and before that BT Research Badminton Club. The club has played in the Ipswich and District Badminton League since the early 1970s when the club moved to Suffolk following the Post Office moving its research laboratories to Martlesham Heath.

2011 saw another new chapter in the club as we became Woodbridge Badminton Club. The name change came about as a result of the opportunity for the club to create a home venue for all of its activities at Farlingaye High School; as a result the club has adopted the town name and now looks to become a major part of the local community. On Monday evenings the Junior Section meets for coaching and club play; on Tuesday evenings the club hosts all of this year’s league fixtures at the School Hall; and finally on Friday the club holds its regular club night sessions.

Each year we enter multiple teams in the Ipswich and District Badminton League. We were voted IDBL Club Of The Year in 2014-15.

  1. Hi
Do you take on new players or do you just take people who have played before

I’ve not played since I’ve left school which is a lot of years ago lol

    1. Have we replied to you about this, Julie? If not, we’re a competitive club with seven teams in the local league and we don’t offer any coaching. At the moment, we’re running our Summer Club at Farlingaye on Tuesdays from 8:00 to 10:00 and it’s £4 a session. Pop along to see how you get on.

Below is a paragraph that we send to everyone who gets in touch with us.

We are a competitive club with several teams in the Ipswich and District Badminton League and we are always interested in recruiting new players but I should point out that we do try to maintain a good standard of play at club nights. As such, we don’t accept beginners as we are unable to offer coaching. That said, it would be good to see you at one of our upcoming club nights. The guest fee is £4 per night. We can see how it goes and then talk about whether or not you should join. Our policy is to allow people to play as guests up to three times, after which we will decide whether or not to invite you to join the club.

    1. Hi Fiona

You don’t have to be brilliant but we don’t take beginners. You are welcome to come along and try us out and see how you get on, any time from 7pm on Friday at Farlingaye High School 🙂

Last session before Xmas will be 15th December, starting again on 12th January.

      All the best
      Dave (chairman)

  2. Hi,

Is there a club night session today that I could join as a guest? Tried ringing the phone number on this website but no luck, hence the post.
